GJ receives AA- credit rating from S&P Global

S&P Global Ratings assigned its “AA-” long-term rating to the City of Grand Junction’s anticipated $9.1 million series 2026 certificates of participation. The rating is an independent assessment of the city’s financial strength and its ability to meet its financial obligations.

The city said in a newsletter the rating reflects S&P’s view of the city’s stable operating performance, strong reserve position and manageable long-term liabilities, supported by well-defined financial policies and practices.

The city said the strong credit rating can also help it access financing at more favorable rates, helping reduce borrowing costs over time.
